Your main video file (and other files associated with your event) will be in a Dropbox folder I created for your project. The link to those files will be mailed to our main point-of-contact/s via email when it's all ready. Here are detailed instructions on how to download each file:
- Any download should be done on a desktop or laptop computer. These files are large. Downloads can range from 10-60GB's in size. So make sure your desktop has plenty of room for the download.
- In an email that was sent to you, you'll find a link to download your video files from my Dropbox. You do not need a Dropbox account to do the download. Click on that link.
- After you click on the link to your video files, you should see a button to download the entire folder. Click on it. You should get a prompt to download the folder to your desktop as a Zip file. Click on that and the download will begin. If successful, the Zip file will appear on your desktop. Open that to reveal the folder with your files in it. If you don’t have a Dropbox account and get a prompt to ’”Log in or sign up", look at the bottom of that prompt and click “Or continue with download only”. Clicking the latter will download the file without having to sign up.
- If the resulting Zip file on your desktop will not open, go back to the download link and open the folder on Dropbox. Click on one video file at a time to open each one individually, then from the dropdown menu that opens, select 'Direct download'. This will download that particular file to your computer where you have downloads designated to be saved. Do this for each file, one at a time. Sometimes folks do not have a good Zip program to open Zip files. But the individual files will download directly if done one-at-a-time:)
That's pretty much it!
NOTE: A Dropbox account is not required to do the download. But, if you have a free account and are logged in, it may try to save to your account, which likely does not have enough room to save the files. If that's the case, logout of your Dropbox account and try again. When logged out, it will automatically save to your desktop computer, assuming you have enough space available. If you don't, you'll need to create room on your computer, or plug in an external drive with enough room and save to that device instead.
Depending on your internet speed it could take anywhere from 2 minutes to several hours to download these files. If you have high speed internet with fast download speeds (more than 100mbps), it won't take long at all (few minutes). If you have slow internet speeds, it could take much longer. 100-200mpbs or better is ideal to download these files quickly. To check your speed, visit www.speedtest.net.
It is okay to share our link with a few close family members! Just make sure to also forward them our entire email with your Dropbox link so they too have access to these instructions. If you need to share your files with a lot of folks (more than a few), however, we suggest using your own file sharing service to do so. We will not be able to help anyone outside of our main client with technical issues related to errors on their end downloading digital files.
The download will be available for 90 days, so be sure to download and save your files before then! If a few years go by and you lose your files for whatever reason, we can host them again for you to download for a small fee to cover our time and hosting (found on our online store).
Once you have your video/s downloaded, you can play them back from Quicktime Movie Player or Windows Media Player and easily jump around via the chapter menu. They can be inserted into your Apple TV library or uploaded to your 'cloud' service of choice for digital playback across all your devices. You could even upload your Highlight Video and/or Short Film Sneak Peek to your own Youtube channel! Popular music, like in your highlight video or full length video, might get flagged... but Youtube will let you know if it can be uploaded or not.
DVD's, USB's and SSD's can also be purchased in our online store.
