1. Email Matt for a free consultation: matt@editinglife.com. Indicate how many photos you have and how you'll be getting your them to us. Don't hesitate to ask any questions! Matt will walk you through the process.
2. Choose your photos wisely. It's the most essential task. Make it easier by sorting your favorite and highest quality shots. Leave out or avoid any out-of-focus, small (think wallet size) or grainy photos. We now only accept digital photos. The easiest way to create digital photos is with your cell phone! Here's a great tutorial for using your iPhone, but others can be found for Android devices: https://youtu.be/h1hIa0cH4G8
If you have a TON of photos to send us, and don't want to digitize them yourself, Target locations and just about any place with a photo shop can turn your photos into JPEGs on disk for about $25-30 per 100 pictures. Make sure to tell them to 'crop the images to fit'. They'll know what you mean. 300dpi is the minimum best resolution.
Once digitized, rename each file with the number (01, 02, 02... 97, 98, 99). You can send us a disk with the photos on them, or upload them to a site like Dropbox to send us a link to download them. wetransfer.com is a site we recommend for folks that don't have their own cloud sharing service in place. Google Drive will not work any longer (Google charges for Drive now, even for access to a folder), but Google Photos will work without signup! Worse case scenario is sending us your photos on a thumb drive.
3. Decide the mood of your montage. Will it be somber? Romantic? Upbeat? A combo of different moods? Deciding this will help you choose your music. We can give suggestions, however choosing music is a very personal decision. All you have to do is give us the titles of the music and the artist's name. The number of photos you have will determine how many songs you will need. A good rule of thumb is one average lengthed song (3-4 minutes) for every 30-40 pictures. We can compress or extend the transitions to make them fit the song for any 'section' of any particular montage.
4. Send us your photos and we'll take care of the rest! Again, we recommend wetransfer.com (free for sharing the photos, or you can send us a thumb drive full of your images.
We accept checks, cash, money orders, PayPal and Venmo. Full payment is required before editing begins.
